Five-A-Month Goals: February's Review

I'll evaluate how I did with my February goals in italics.

My goals for February were:

1)  Read Scripture every day - I'm not committing to how much, but to at least read something daily.  I guess this is my re-attempt at what I wrote last month, but with more realistic, simple expectations.  Things can only grow from here.

I did it!  I read something from Scripture almost every day in February!  The two main ways I made it happen: 1) I printed out some of Romans and stuck it on the wall in the bathroom, so I could read a few verses whenever I found a few minutes to myself... on the toilet.  2) Stewart and I began to sit and read Scripture and pray together in the evenings after Micah is in bed.  We've already read through Philippians, and are halfway through Hebrews now.

2)  Make at least one visit to Olifa (my national friend)... which means language practice, getting a taxi home on my own, and deepening that friendship.

I went and visited Olifa this morning.  (Phew.  Barely snuck that one into February!)  We did have a good time together, but two pregnant women, with two little boys, spending the morning cooking over charcoal while supervising said little boys (all with little-to-no verbal communication due to language barriers), proves to be quite tiring!  Getting a taxi went well except that he didn't really know where I wanted to go, so we got lost on the way home.  But we did get here eventually.

3)  Take Micah outside to play everyday, even if it's only in the shade of the carport.  (Many days it's just too hot in the sun to be outside for long.)

Micah did get outside to play most days.  Some days it was quite short (just helping Momma water the garden), but I feel like we spent more time outside in February than we have been lately.  I still feel like I should get him outside more; he loves to be outside and is generally easily entertained by that big pile of dirt outside our door!

4)  Get things sorted out with our house-helper, Charlotte.  We're just finding that having her here full-time is a bit too much.  It's helpful, for sure.  But we don't really have enough work to keep her busy, and I think having her three days a week would be enough.  So we're trying to arrange work for her elsewhere for two days a week.  But it's easier said than done.

Like I said, getting Charlotte work elsewhere for two days a week is easier said than done.  However, we have been able to arrange for her to cook for our neighbours one day a week.  This change has already been so helpful, and it's only the second week!

5)  Book our flights and start arranging details for our trip back to Canada in the summer.

Our flights are booked!!   Woohoo!
