We started off Christmas Eve, eating Apple Scone Cake for breakfast. Yum! Lunch wasn't memorable, or maybe we didn't eat any? I don't know. But supper we enjoyed appetizers together with our friend Lisa. (We ate Spinach & Artichoke Dip, Hummus & Pita Chips, Bruschetta, Nachos, and Baked Brie.) Lots of cheese, which is a real treat here.
Lisa slept over at our house, and we started Christmas day out bright and early (thanks to Micah). We opened our stockings and enjoyed hot drinks (we had the swamp cooler and A/C on all night! What a treat!). We ate cinnamon buns that Lisa had made, read the Christmas story and talked about the wonder of it. Then we opened presents, followed by eating Wifesaver Breakfast. Mmmm.
We spent Christmas afternoon out visiting our local friends and enjoying their Christmas party and warm hospitality. We ate couscous with an onion chicken sauce with watermelon for dessert. Not what we consider a typical Christmas dinner, but delicious nonetheless! In fact, I think it was the best local food I've ever eaten. We returned home in time to put Micah to bed, and enjoy more tea and apple cider while we skyped our families.

Boxing Day also started bright and early (but what day doesn't around here?). We spent the afternoon hosting our same local friends at our house for a (somewhat) traditional Christmas dinner. I made a roast chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, baked parmesan tomatoes, and fresh bread from the local bakery. Another yummy feast! We finished off our day with chocolate fondue and fresh fruit.

Now it's December 27, and we're back to reality. The swamp cooler and A/C are off. And other than the chicken soup that is underway, there are but a few remnants of our Christmas feasting. Half of our spinach artichoke dip is yet to be eaten. But our excessive cheese-eating is over. And we're back to our usual ways. Warm weather and foods that are easily (and inexpensively) available.
It was a wonderful Christmas, and we felt very spoiled by our families and the lovely treats they sent us from Canada. I hope you also enjoyed a restful, joyful Christmas celebrating Christ Jesus, our newborn King of Kings! No matter what foods you did or didn't eat. :)

Glad you had a good, though different, Christmas! So nice that you can skype and keep in touch by blogging, so the distance does not seem as much.
